In Izmir, Google Ads are set up differently for each side of the bay, for coastal towns that fill in summer and empty in winter, and for Aegean producers selling online.
We make sure you appear in front of people searching on Google; we control which searches you show up in and how much you pay.
In Izmir, how well a Google ad performs depends largely on two things: who sees the ad and at what time of year. A business in the city centre sees similar demand all year round, while for a vineyard house in Urla or a breakfast spot in Alaçatı half the year is quiet. We set up campaign settings with this difference in mind.
Radius targeting measures distance as the crow flies; in Izmir, however, the real route between two points often goes around the bay. A circle drawn around a business in Alsancak also takes in Karşıyaka, but for a user there, getting to you may mean a ferry or a long drive.
That is why, for businesses where proximity drives the purchase, such as a vet, a hair salon or a car service, we work with a district list rather than a circle. For a business in Konak, Buca, Karabağlar and Balçova may make more sense; for one in Bornova, Bayraklı and the Kemalpaşa direction. We narrow or widen the list based on the location report from the first weeks. Writing the neighbourhood name in the ad text and the location asset also tells users which side of the bay you are on before they click.
In coastal districts, the ad calendar has two stages: being visible to holiday planners before the season and to people who are in the area during it. Running the same campaign with the same settings in both periods spends the budget either too early or too late.
People planning holidays in spring are still in Istanbul, Ankara or abroad. During this period we deliberately keep the location option open to include people showing interest in the area, and appear in hotel and vineyard house searches with an early-booking message.
In July and August, for restaurants, beaches and boat tours, the core audience is people on the peninsula that day. We switch the location option to people physically in the area, write ad copy for “today” and “near me” intent, and put directions and the phone number up front. If you have a Business Profile, we link it to the account and turn on the location asset.
When the season closes, we pause the campaign rather than delete it. A paused campaign’s keyword, ad and conversion history becomes a ready starting point when it is switched back on the next spring.
For Izmir brands selling products such as olive oil, olives, dried figs or jam from their own website, Google Shopping ads show the product to searchers with its photo and price. This requires products to be sent to Merchant Center through a regularly updated product feed.
For exporters selling to wholesale buyers, search campaigns built in the target country’s language are a better fit than Shopping. The success of these campaigns is measured by sample or price requests, not by visits.
Ad copy should answer the three questions an Izmir user asks first before they click: which neighbourhood are you in, when are you open and how do I get there. When these three pieces of information are missing, the phone does not ring even if the clicks come.
We measure success not by clicks but by incoming phone calls, WhatsApp messages, forms and sales; for seasonal businesses, we compare with the same weeks last year. Comparing June with May makes every business look successful; the real question is what has changed since last June.
We link GA4 with Google Ads and define phone clicks, WhatsApp and forms as separate conversions. In e-commerce, purchase value is also passed to the account, so you can see which product group covers its ad spend. The report also gives a separate breakdown by side of the bay and district.
We do not have an office in Izmir; our only office is in Bakırköy, Istanbul. We do the setup in a video call with screen sharing, have the account opened in your name and work with administrator access. We recommend that coastal businesses put the pre-season planning meeting in the calendar every winter.
In a free discovery call we analyse where you stand today and draw up a clear roadmap that fits your budget. No commitment.
